Masters of Science: Madeline Lancaster

7.00pm to 8.30pm, Wednesday 9 October

The Theatre, The Royal Institution

Madeline Lancaster is an American developmental biologist working at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge to study neurological development and diseases of the brain. She is best known for her groundbreaking research into brain organoids, so-called ‘mini-brains’, made from pluripotent stem cells. She uses these brain organoids to unravel the general principles of brain evolution, focusing on human brain development, as well as studying neurological diseases that involve defects in brain size.
